After the great start of the week with the amazing prediction between Shvedova and Vikhlyantseva, today we will continue with the predictions as the next one is again from the WTA tournament in St. Petersburg as it will be between another Kazakhstan player - Yulia Putintseva and the Swedish girl - Johanna Larsson.
Johanna Larsson did not start the year very good. She played in Auckland in the beginning of the year but she was eliminated in the first round and they she decided to start a Challenger Campaign. The Challenger in Hobart was her choice, just before Australian Open but there she was eliminated in the second round by the player of Ukraine, Lesia Tsurenko. Yulia Putintseva played only on WTA tournaments. She was eliminated in the first round of WTA in Brisbane and then in the second round in Sidney. Actually, in Sidney she had to be eliminated in the first round but Bencic injured herself and retired.
On Australian Open both players did not make any good appearance. Actually, Larsson did play on this tournament at all, while Putintseva lost in the second round from Jelena Ostapenko with 2-0 sets. Now after such terrible beginning of the season both players will try to fix everything but for one of them it is not going to work. The odds are 50-50 and the bookies believe there is no favourite for this game. But after all we think that Larsson is the better and more quality player and she will take this game.
Our first pick for the upcoming week will be from the WTA tournament in St. Petersburg. This is going to be the strongest tournament in the tennis this week as there are no ATP tournaments and there are just a few Challengers.
We believe that we might produce some good picks from this WTA tour and the first one will be from the first round between the players of Kazakhstan and Russia - Yaroslava Shvedova and Natalia Vikhlyantseva. We think that the Russian player is the better one and she might be well and better prepared for this game. Shvedova is definitely with more experience than the young Russian but she is not playing good tennis recently and in our opinion she will not be capable of winning here.
Vikhlyantseva did a very good campaign in Australia as on the Grand Slam there she reached the second round as she started from the qualifications and she reached the second round even without losing a set. This was a great performance for she and if it was not the good shape of Pavlyuchenkova, she could go even further. Here, we think that we are going to see now, one good, solid and confident Natalia and she will take the win even in straight sets.
The next tip for the last day from this week will be from the ITF tournament in Nussloch, Germany. The game is between two rising stars - Daniel Masur and Mats Moraing. Both are incredible talents and soon they will break in to the top of the ATP tennis.
We think that today we are going to see one amazing tennis match between these rising talents. It is very hard for us to say which player is better so we are going to go for Moraing who looks in a better shape and condition after he won here against very quality players in the face of Vatutin and Hanfmann. For Masur, it was easy to reach on this stage but his opponents were definitely not from his class and it was easy to beat him.
But even against them he had some problems, after all he reached the final. Now we believe that Moraing is one idea better at this point of their development and he will not take the final. Moreover, there is one head to head games between them from the last year on another ITF tournament, which finished with a win for Moraing, after he totally outclassed his country mate who even retired at the end of the second set. We think that on these odds, we must go for Moraing as he is for us the slightly favourite for winning this game.
The next game which we are going to predict after the amazing semi-final in Australian Open is going to be from the Challenger in Rennes, France. Here the first semi-finalist is going to be Alexander Rublev but the second is still unknown.
We believe that the potential finalist can be the representative of the home country - Mathias Bourgue as he is playing amazing tennis. He already eliminated quality opponents like Teimuraz Gabashvili, Jozef Kovalik and Ruben Bemelmans. These are definitely one of the strongest players on tour as all of them have done incredible achievements on the ATP tours.
Uladzimir Ignatik, his next opponent is a very strong player as well. He has also a huge experience in the ATP as on this tournament he won against Tobias Kamke and Paul-Henri Mathieu who has a amazing successes in the ATP. We believe that the experienced Belorussian is in a good shape but against the home representative he will have no chances as the French will be cheer leaded by the crowd as well. The game is 50-50 according to the bookies but for us it is not and we expect 2-0 win for the French player.
The game which we are going to follow today is the other game from the semi-finals which is going to be played between Rafael Nadal and Grigor Dimitrov. Favorite for winning this game and the tournament is Rafa Nadal but the Bulgarian is in incredible shape at the moment and he will try to make one more sensation after the title in Brisbane, 2 weeks ago.
So far, Dimitrov is having not a single lost game for the new season. He played 10 games as he won all of them. He lost just 4 games and at all his condition and shape is at one amazing level. Unfortunately, the same could be written for Rafael Nadal. He is playing his best tennis after the injury. He won against quality players here such as Milos Raonic, Marcos Baghdatis, Alexander Zverev and Gael Monfils. Interesting is the way with which he won against all of them. He totally outclass them as only Sascha Zverev could surprise him but he could not do that after his physical powers left him in the fifth set.
Now we think that here we are going to see another five sets thrilling battle. None of the players will want to surrender. They will play on 100% here and five sets are again expected. In such case, we would like to go for Dimitrov as he might even take the win and the Grand Slam. After all such pick may be a bit risky so we will go for him to take just 2 sets.
The next game after the few unsuccessful games from the Australian Open is going to be between Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka. This epic Swiss derby is one of the most interesting as the record is 17-3 in favour of Federer.
Interesting fact is also that all three wins of Wawrinka came on clay courts as the only one on a Grand Slam was in French Open 3 years ago. Anyway, this game will be completely different because after this game they played many games and Stan Wawrinka won three Grand Slam titles, Australian Open, US Open and French Open. Now the only trophy which is missing is the title in Wimbledon. We believe that this will be the only cell this season in front of Wawrinka, but this does not mean that he will not chase the win today against Federer for another Grand Slam final.
Moreover, he is playing amazing tennis and if his game is going fine, he will totally outclass Federer, who is very dangerous player, he is simply amazing but he is not that young and he might not have any powers left for this tough battle. We will go for Wawrinka to win here.
The first and the only game for today is going to be the second quarter-final game which is going to be played between Rafael Nadal and Milos Raonic. After the amazing win on Dimitrov with 3-0 sets against David Goffin, he is now waiting for the winner between the Matador and the best Canadian.
Our favourite for winning this game will be Raonic. He is not just a better player right now and he is in a better shape than Nadal. Actually, they already met in the ATP tournament in Brisbane two weeks ago. They played one extremely long and interesting game which finished with a win for Raonic with 2-1 sets. Nadal was totally outclassed as he could not do anything as the service of Raonic was simply brilliant and amazing. He was serving with more than 200 km/h and he simply did not give any chances to Nadal.
After we saw Nadal against Monfils and how he has again problems against strong service from Monfils in the third and fourth set, we think he might have such problems against Raonic as well. Monfils did not make the best game he could but at some point of the game he started playing incredibly well and he had even chances to make it to 2-2. In one such game, 5 sets are very expected so we will go for Raonic to take at least 2 sets here.
After the incredible pick last day where we very correctly predicted that Nadal is going to totally outclass Gael Monfils, today there is another good pick, this time for the other class player - Roger Federer. He is playing against Mischa Zverev, the guy who eliminated the world number one Andy Murray.
Interesting fact is that Mischa Zverev adopted serve/volley technique pretty well as he used it 118 times in his game against Andy Murray. Of course, he saw that this is working fine there as the world number one could not produce one good quality passing shot. Today against Roger Federer it will be definitely tougher but this does not mean that he is not going to achieve that again. We believe that Zverev will be already very confident and the lack of power and energy will not play so vital role here as Roger Federer is coming after 5 sets game as well.
We are on the opinion that here Mischa Zverev is not going to give away that easy this game and he has all the chances to take a set even two. Roger Federer is a class in the tennis but he is not on the needed condition to play another long game, so if Zverev takes a set here he might take the game as well. Odds are good to try and risk a bit here. But we will stick for our pick +7.5 Games on AH for the German.
The first game for the week which we are going to predict is between Gael Monfils and Rafael Nadal from the Australian Open as this is a game from the quarter-finals. It is very interesting tournament so far as the main favourites for winning the title already were eliminated.
At the moment the day is in the best time and we are expecting to finish the games of Raonic and Dimitrov, which games look easy with the result they are at the moment. From this game, we are expecting Rafa Nadal to have no problems in taking this game even with difference but Monfils has all the chances to grab at least a set here. It will be interesting how both players will play here. Nadal will have no problems in making longer rallies, while Monfils will certainly try to shorten the points.
Our pick will be Nadal to win this game, but who knows what is going to happen here. After all, after the incredibly 5 sets win against Zverev, we think that Nadal will take this game easily with games difference of at least 5-6 games and this is why our pick will be on asian handicap market for games.
