Kevin Anderson did already some great games and we can say that he is already in a good shape before the Olympic Games. Stan Wawrinka missed lots of tournaments this year, but not because he was injured, he just missed them in order to rest enough.
Actually, the rest in the tennis is very important, because you see what is happening with Dominic Thiem right now. He started injured himself, he feels constant tiredness and exhaustion so it is not very good to play on each tournament. The rest is very needy for the professional tennis tour. Wawrinka seems to be recovered and filled with energy and he is just outclassing all of the opponents he meets. We believe that Anderson is a tough player, who is relying mostly on his service, but if his service is not getting in like the first set yesterday against Tomic he will have no chances against Wawrinka, which shots are destroying.
It will be really interesting to see how these two players are going to play this game. We think that Wawrinka will be playing very carefully and wise and he will not let his opponent make easy points. Under pressure Anderson can lose from anyone. Head to head games are very matched but the last game was won from Wawrinka in straight sets and we think he will make another one.
Last night, Gael Monfils did an amazing win against one very quality player like Vasek Pospisil. Actually, Pospisil is not among the best players right now but he is a serious name in the tennis nowadays.
The problem was more that Gael Monfils was recovering from injury and in the first week after the recovery he had to play a final in Washington DC and win the title. Now just a few days later he played 2 tough games in the tournament. We do not know how many powers Gael Monfil have but he is still one very serious and dangerous opponent and we believe that he can be very matched to David Goffin. It will be a tough game and the chances Monfils to win are not that bad. Actually, the bookmakers are making him favourite but this is very tricky, because Goffin is also very dangerous. The game should be 50-50 at the moment.
There is one head to head game and it was on clay from last year which finished 2-1 for Monfils. Unfortunately, now everything is different and we cannot say that Monfils is that much better. Anyway, for us .. he is in a good streak and he is capable of making another win. He is confident in his game and his shots and services are getting in. We think he can win against David Goffin, although it will be a tough game.
Finally, after Wimbledon Novak Djokovic is back and he is going to play tonight his first game from the second round in the Masters in Toronto, Canada. He is going to face one very tough and hard for challenging player - Gilles Muller.
Usually, Djokovic is the better player but at the moment he is struggling and we do not know why. Also he rested for around a month and he might lose some practice so at least in one of the sets he may have problems with Gilles Muller. Moreover, the Luxembourg player is serving pretty well and he will take his games easily, of course, if his service is getting in. The games line is low just 19 games and we are on the opinion that in this game we can easy see at least 22-23 games. We see Djokovic winning in straight sets but the win will come very hard. Usually, Djokovic is facing problems against strong serving players, like Muller, Karlovic, Lopez, Cilic, Isner etc.
Because of this we are going to choose here, over 19.5 games for our prediction. There are 2 head to head games as one of them in on hard courts, from last year on Australian Open and in all of the sets Djokovic took 6-4. This is a good statistic and it is totally in our favour.
We have already seen some amazing games in Toronto last night. Today, there are some more games and we stopped our attention at the game between the veteran Radek Stepanek and the French Benoit Paire.
We can say that Radek Stepanek is playing his best tennis since the past 5 years. He is very dangerous opponent at the moment. Let’s remember how he was about to win against Andy Murray on Wimbledon this year. On the other hand, his opponent Benoit Paire is playing his worst tennis. He is in a hole and he cannot find himself. This is very bad for us - the neutral fans because he is very talented player and it is such a beauty to watch his game.
Our prediction for this game is Radek Stepanek to continue with the great games and win against Benoit Paire. There are no head to head games between these two players, which is very strange. Radek Stepanek went through qualifications to qualify for the first round. We think that he is one idea more prepared than Paire at the moment.
The Masters (ATP 1000) on hard courts in Toronto, Canada is starting tonight with some epic games. First one we are going to predict is between the players of Peter Polansky and Tim Smyczek.
It is going to be one very interesting game between two very matched players. Both players were rising future stars a few years ago but they never made it to the big tennis. Tim Smyczek was very close to achieve that but with this Challengers he has no chances of making it. While Peter Polansky is a good player, he had a huge potential but this injuries and this fall of the second floor before the Olympic games .. did a huge impact over his future.
Usually, Polansky was always the better player but recently Tim Smyczek is playing better. It will be hard to decide which one is better and maybe if the game was elsewhere we would go for the American, but in Canada, we will strongly go for Polansky.
It is a big surprise that Dustin Brown reached this stage of the tour. This is going to be his first semi-final from the long time. It looks like that he is enjoying his time in Gstaad and this is winning him the games.
But now against him we are going to see one very tough opponent - Feliciano Lopez. Actually, we can give credits to Dustin Brown but it is going to be one very risky prediction, because Feliciano Lopez is an unpredictable player. He can usually win against anyone, let's remember that he did the first loss of Novak Djokovic this calendar year. To be honest, Dustin Brown is not a bad server as well. He is great on fast surfaces. But the interesting fact is that the fast courts is the favourite surface of both players, while this is going to be played on clay.
We think that this will be one very tough and matched game between two very interesting players. We guess that we are going to see at least one tie-break and probably 3 sets as well. So we will go for over 22.5 games.
This is a Quarter-final game from the ATP in Umag, Croatia between the players of Damir Dzumhur and Fabio Fognini. We wrote already our potential winner of this tournament, but the interesting thing will be to see which players are going to qualify really for the final.
Actually, we think that Dzumhur is having amazing potential because on clay in the recent times, he showed great improvement. He is very consistent and if he makes a few good games he is going into a great shape with great run. At the moment, he won against Nicolas Almagro and Thomas Fabbiano with 2-1 sets and maybe he is coming to the good form. It will be really interesting to see him, how he is going to play against Fognini, who is one of the best clay court players. Of course, Fognini is a very risky player because if he has a day he can win 6-0, 6-0, if not .. he can lose with the same result.
After all, we are not going to be against Fognini, because it would be not that wise. We think that Fognini is going to win but it will be a tough win. We expect the game to be very matched and possibly Dzumhur to steal a set.
