It has been a very long and rainy day, yesterday. Unfortunately, no tennis was played and we think that we cannot be satisfied at all with the Roland Garros this year. Very bad weather which is ruining the good tournament.
Also not only because of the weather the tournament is not going to be that interesting because the domestic favourite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga left injured and the same happened to Nadal as well. Now there are some strange names on the quarter-finals, like Albert Ramos Vinolas, who did a good win against Milos Raonic, who was partly injured as well. Richard Gasquet is the only French which left in Roland Garros and now all the French people are going to support him. So far it was easy for the French player, because he faced not that well ranked players (well maybe Nishikori and Kyrgios was serious enough as opponents but they were definitely not from the class of Andy Murray, who is currently playing his best tennis).
The game must be pretty interesting and good looking. Richard Gasquet will play till the very last point and he will try to qualify for the semi-finals. He will also try to satisfy the fans with a decent play. He posses one of the most beautiful backhands in the tour and it is always a pleasure to watch such players. We think that this game is going to be tough for both players and we can possibly see 4 or 5 sets, which will make the game with many games. The games line here is just 36 games so we are going to bet this line to be passed.
It has been an amazing first week of Roland Garros and now we are heading to the second week, where great and epic games are expecting us. The first game for the week, which we are going to follow is between David Goffin and Ernest Gulbis.
Surprisingly or not, Gulbis reached very easy this stage of the tournament after he had luck in each of the games he played, especially in the last game, when against him was the very strong French Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and when Tsonga was leading 5-2 in the first set he dropped from the game due to an injury. On the other hand, his opponent David Goffin had a terrible games so far. In the last round he faced Nicolas Almagro and he was very close to be eliminated, but somehow at the end of the game he managed to win with 3-2 sets.
We do not believe that David Goffin is fully recovered from that game and he might feel a little bit tired. While Ernest Gulbis had enough days to rest and to show the world what he is capable of. If we abstract from this, we think that Gulbis is not a bad player and if he has a day he can win against anyone. Of course, win would be too optimistic here, so we will search Gulbis to take at least 2 sets.
One of the clashes of the Friday’s third round games of WTA French Open is Yanina Wickmayer against Garbiñe Muguruza. The 26 years old Wickmayer is having a good tournament so far, being able to win against Ekaterina Makarova (6:2 / 2:6 / 2:6) in the second round, despite her slow start of the clay season - she lost in the first rounds of Madrid and Rome. The 4th seed Muguruza had some difficulties in the first round and dropped a set over Anna Karolína Schmiedlová, but gain a easy win in the second round WC entry Myrtille Georges (6:2 / 6:0). The two of them had only one meeting so far back in 2014 at the WTA Hobart, but Wickmayer retired at score 4:1 in the first set. The spanien should win easy against this opponent, if she wants to make a true stand in a Grand Slam championship after her final last year in Wimbledon. She is good on clay and maybe one of the few players who can stop the domination of Serena Williams.
This is a match from the second round of the French Open 2016 between David Ferrer (number 11 at the world ranking) and the Juan Monaco (number 92).
Monaco is former top 10 player (highest ranking No. 10) and the clay is his favourite surface. He had a lot of injuries in the last two seasons and that's the reason he is so low ranked right now. In the first round the Argentinean managed to overcome Istomin with 3-1 sets and we could say that Monaco is in generally good form with 8/10 record. Prior the Roland Garros, he reached the quarter final of Rome, where he walked over against Pouille.
Meanwhile, David Ferrer had zero difficulties to overcome Donskoy in straight sets on Tuesday. The Spaniard is playing very good tennis and will hope to finally reach further than the quarterfinal, where he was stuck for the past 2 French Open. His recent record is 7/10, with most recent defeat from Cilic at the semi final of Geneva.
Their head to head Statistics is 4-4 (3-3 on clay). Ferrer has a balance on clay 363/155 (11/5 this season), Monaco is 318/178 (10/3 and one title in Houston). We expect a close match with at least four sets so our tip is over 35.5 games
It has been a very long first round here in the French Open which continued for a little more than 2 days. This was due to the constant rains. But now the weather seems fine and no one is expecting a rain again, at least not in the next few days. There are a couple of great games but we stopped our attention on this game between Andy Murray and Mathias Bourge.
The representative of the France - Mathias Bourge is a young player (22 years old). He is a good clay courter but what is missing him is the fact that he is mainly playing on ITF and Challengers and he cannot feel the ATP atmosphere. Now he has the perfect chance to do that against Andy Murray and showed that he is one good reasonable player, who can play really solid. In the first game here, Andy Murray faced lots of problems against Radek Stepanek, he had to play 5 sets in order to win against the veteran and we can say that Radek Stepanek has all the chances to eliminate Andy Murray.
If Murray is going to play like his previous game against Stepanek he will face huge difficulties because Mathias Bourge is young player and his powers will not end after the third set. If Stepanek was not that old, he would eliminated Murray for sure. Now the over games line here is not good for us, but the handicap line for Bourge is more than good and enough.
