A quarter final of Gstaad, clag between Carreno and Thiem who are facing each other for the 3rd time in their careers. The Spaniard is enjoying good form currently, with 8 wins in his last 10 duels. He recently won the Poznan challenger final and is heading into this clash on the back of a straight sets win over Haase. Carreno currently holds 20/13 record on clay and  takes part in the tournament for the first time and so far he’s doing great. Meanwhile, Thiem has also found a for turnaround with 5 consecutive wins. The Australian won the title at Umag and has defeated Delbonis in straight sets in the round of 16. He’s considered the favorite here however we expect a close call clash, as the previous 2 matches have seen 3 sets and the players have exchanged 1 win each.

Nadal is facing Vesely at the round of 16, Hamburg, looking to extend his winning run, after defeating Verdasco in the previous round with 2-1 sets. The Spaniard lost the first set, due to lack of concentration, but later he demolished his opponent with 6-1, 6-1. We expect him to bring his A game today against the young Czech, who’s in very controversial form right now. Vesely won his duel to Haider-Maurer with 2-1 sets, and similarly to Nadal, after dropping the first set, Jiri mobilised himself and pulled 6-1, 6-0 in the following two sets. However, the world’s number 45th in the ATP rankings has never played with Nadal before, who’s arguably one of the best at clay, and we think that he’ll not have much of a chance here today.

Analysis
Paire and Robredo are facing each other again, just 3 days after the final clash of Bastad, where Paire won with 7-6, 6-3 and thanks to that victory, the head-to-head stats is now evened at 1-1. The French is coming on the back of 2-1 victory over Kohlschreiber in the first round of Hamburg, and is now riding 6 consecutive winning streak and total of 8 wins in his last 10 duels. Despite his great run, though, Robredo remains the slight favorite here according to the bookies. The Spaniard is really out of form this year, with 11/7 record on clay and 5/5 from his last 10 encounters. Apart from reaching the final at Bastad, he’s been very disappointing in the main tournaments, which will probably result over his 21st position at the ATP rankings. However, he showed great concentration and will yesterday against Zverev, defeating him with 2-1 sets. We think that Paire is in better position to win this clash, however the first set might go into a tie break and hopefully they’ll be able to cover the game spread.

Analysis
Hamburg, round of 16, continues with another clash between Fognini and Ramos. The Italian is the strong favorite here, according to the bookies and to the head to head stats, as he’s holding 6-0 advantage to his rival. However, his form is controversial lately, splitting his last 10 matches into 5/5. Additionally, his current record on clay is not so impressive either, with 16/10 for the year. The world’s number 32 in the ATP rankings has managed to defeat Chardy in the first round of Hamburg, but he really had to work hard for that win, as the clash saw 1 tiebreak into the 2nd set, to eventually win with 2-1 sets. However, we must note that Chardy is also in terrible form, so that speaks volumes here. Meanwhile, Ramos is finding himself in much better form, winning 8 of his last 10 duels. The Spaniard recently won the title of San Benedetto challenger, however he didn’t impress much at Bastad, where he was eliminated at the round of 16 by Robredo in straight sets. The world’s number 55 in the ATP rankings also surpasses his rival in his current record on clay court, with 23/13 for the year. To sum it all up, we think that today is the perfect opportunity for Ramos to finally break the dominance of Fognini in the direct clashes, so you could back him up at great odds between 2.40 - 2.60. However, as always, we’re being precautious here and backing up the most obvious bet, that also comes at great value.

Analysis
Zverev is coming on the back of defeat at the semifinal of Bastad, clay that came exactly from Robredo in straight sets, however he’s in generally great form, as he defeated some strong players along the way, such as Reister, Monaco and Bellucci. Here at Hamburg, he managed to reach the semifinal last year and with 14/7 on clay, the prosperous German will be confident to reach similar heights. Meanwhile, Robredo have reached the final of Bastad, but similarly to his rival, have been defeated with 2-0 sets by Paire. The Spaniard is in controversial form lately, splitting his last 10 duels into 5/5 and currently holding 10/7 stats on clay. As we already noted, this players are meeting for the second time in a matter of days and we stick to the same expectations as last time, where we forecasted a close call battle, but due to the bad weather conditions, Zverev couldn’t show his best game, as he managed to break with 2-0 in both sets, but eventually fell short.

Analysis
In the match of the day, Nadal will be in search for his 16th victory against Verdasco, as both players have met seventeen times with Nadal holding 15-2 advantage. However, last two duels ended in favour of Verdasco, who defeated him this year at Miami and back in 2012 at Madrid - Masters, both times with 2-1 sets. The world’s number 10 is currently 21/6 on clay, but we all know that he’s not the same recently and he proved it at Wimbledon, where he was eliminated quite early into the competition in the round 2, by Brown with 3-1 sets. Apart from his title at Stuttgart, Nadal has been quite disappointing in the major tournaments, losing the final at Madrid - Masters, and not reaching any further than the quarterfinals of Australian Open, French Open, Rome, Monte Carlo and Queens. Meanwhile, Verdasco has also nothing much to brag about, as he’s currently 9/8 on clay and 5/5 in his last 10 matches. Nonetheless, he’s a tough nut to crack and has taken quite a few sets from Nadal, even when he was at his best. The value for this prediction is really good, and the games line is just 20.5, so we back it up with medium stake, as both players are not really inform at the moment.

Our second choice for the day is again from round 1, Hamburg, in a clash between Cervantes and Pouille. Both players had to go through 2 qualification rounds in order to reach top 32, where the Spaniard won against Muñoz de la Nava and Gombos. Inigo is currently 32/11 on clay for the year and 8/2 in his last 10 matches. The world’s number 124th in the ATP rankings is in great form and this should definitely be a tight call. Meanwhile, his French rival had two very tough duels against Berlocq and Olivo, both won in 3 set matches. The world’s number 85th in the ATP rankings is in worse form than his rivals, according to the numbers, as he’s 6/4 from his last 10 matches and 12/7 on clay for the year. However, he’s pointed as the slight favorite in this match, but we think that none of the players will be willing to give up without a fight. Another interesting fact is that they’ll face each other for the very first time on a tennis court.

Analysis
In a match from the first round of Hamburg, clay, Almagro and Ramos are meeting for the 5th time in their careers. Nicolas has been in a very bad form lately losing 6 of his last 10 matches. The world’s 136th in the ATP rankings is coming on the back of 2-0 defeat to Istomin in the round of 16, Bastad. His current stats on clay shows 13/10 for the year but due to the 4-0 advantage in the head-to-head clashes, the punters put him as a favorite in this clash. Albert Ramos, on other side, is in considerably better shape with 7/3 in his last 10 encounters and 22/13 record on clay for the year. Similarly to his rival, he was knocked out of the round of 16, Bastad by Robredo in straight sets. However, prior that he won the title at San Benedetto challenger, which improved his overall record on clay court. Last time when this players met was back in February at Buenos Aires, round of 16, where Almagro left no chance to his opponent, winning with 6-3, 6-4. However, back then the Spaniard was in much better form, reaching  the semi final of that tournament, while since then he can’t reach any better result even at small tournaments. We think that his fallow compatriot is in great position to finally get his first win over Almagro, which comes at amazing 2.30 - 2.50 odd in the various bookmakers.
